Social
Whilst LUUSAC is primarily a diving society we also have a rich social aspect to the club. As well as holding our weekly pub sessions at the Eldon, we also hold a number of awesome socials throughout the year.
Weekly - After Lecture Pub Session
A nice break is needed after our Thursday lecture sessions and this is a good chance for all our divers to catch up with each other. It's a great excuse for us to socialise and discuss our cleanest water sport. We get complimentary food during term time at The Eldon, as well as club incentives. This is all before we head into town or to the Union to show off our classy dance grooves.
Meet and Greet Social
Held after the information evening typically around freshers week, this pub/night-out social is a fantastic opportunity for new members to meet our friendly members. We aim to get new members involved from the very beginning of the year and what better way for new members to meet people than to follow a quiet drink in the pub with a loud night on the tiles?
Curry evenings
Typically held once a term, the club heads over to Akmal's in Woodhouse Moor for a delicious curry. These offer a great opportunity to have a chilled time with fellow divers, these evenings usually end up with us heading to one of the nearby pubs for a cheeky pint. Post-training trip meals out are also a great chance to decompress after a busy weekend learning to dive.
Otley Runs
From the annual Rubik's cube Otley run at the beginning of the year to the traditional after Christmas and a post-exam adventure. We hold a wide range of different themes, all of which have a great atmosphere and are a great way to get to know people. We do, of course, encourage our members to enjoy Otley Runs responsibly.
Christmas Meal
The annual Christmas meal is the first chance we have to change our wetsuits and fins for posh frocks and painful shoes. It consists of a three-course meal with free table wine and is usually finished by a house party (hosted by one unsuspecting LUUSAC member).
Summer Ball
Yet another chance to get dolled up and eat an amazing three-course meal in style. It's a great excuse to have a party and celebrate another year of diving and debauchery. It involves a mix of great tunes, quizzes, and prizes for achievements and another opportunity to show off our amazing dance moves, this time in our finest frocks and swankiest suits.
Easter Trip
The ever-popular Easter trip is held abroad and after a long day of diving it's good to relax. We do this by providing quality places to eat at our chosen location, as well as finding a reasonably priced watering hole for a quiet get together in the evening. Of course, drinking and diving do not mix so we have a free day at the end of the week with the promise of a quiz, karaoke, and a cracking night out to finish off what is always a fantastic holiday.
Day Trips
When not in the pub or 30 meters underwater we organise occasional day trips, bagging cheap deals to places such as laser quest, paintballing and even Alton Towers. It's a good way to get out of Leeds and do something different with our weekends.
